Christie's Zürich, located next to the famous Kunsthaus, was opened in 1978. In 1991 the first Christie’s SwissArt auction took place in the Kunsthaus, as Zürich is the buying and auction platform for collectors interested in SwissArt from the 18th to the 21th century. Next to the headline-grabbing 1998 week-long sale of Schloss Herblingen, Christie's Zürich hosts regularly single owner sales, the most recent ones being the Private Collection of Gustav Zumsteg in 2006 and the Avo Krikorian Collection in 2007. The Christie’s Zürich team, strengthened by a group of three specialists (Swiss Art, Post-War & Contemporary Art and European Furniture), regularly hosts lectures, charity auctions, other special events including Young Collectors Parties, previews introducing the highlights of the upcoming auctions held in New York and London, enhancing our important SwissArt auctions held twice a year.
